One of my classmates recommended me to pop by this place because I told her I'm a waffles-lover. I'm really proud to proclaim myself as one because I'm not really picky when it comes to food. Good food bad food, as long as it fills my tummy, good enough. Unlike my picky bf, he's one of a hell critic. I mean, I only have loads of comments when it comes to waffles, but him? Exactly the opposite. Critics everything other than waffles. Say what!?!
To clarify, I'm 100% non-cafe hopper. I find them too inaccessible, too small for comfort, and too loud. Pretty backdrop etc., but to really come down to preference, I rather pay a little more and have a nice meal in a casual dining restaurant.
Menu which was made out of tracing paper.
Blackforest waffle - S$14.90
Topped with belgium chocolate ice-cream and whipped cream
Red velvet waffle - S$14.90
Topped with cream cheese, vanilla gelato and belgium chocolate ice-cream
Eggs Bacon waffle - S$14.90
Cream onion and bacon sauce topped with garden salad
Overall I'd say the waffles weren't the best. Flavors were good though. The waffle itself isn't crunchy nor dense enough i.e. soggy. Fragrance isn't up there like Ice Edge Cafe (they serve the best waffles ever!) but their innovative flavors compensated for that.
If you're into dark chocolate ice-cream, blackforest (chocolate) waffle definitely fits the bill. Chocolate ice-cream with chocolate waffle, gosh it's killing.
Personally I do enjoy the red velvet waffle with cream cheese, a little salty which elevates the whole dish when consumed together with the vanilla ice-cream. Once again, not a fan of the chocolate ice-cream. And if you're not a chocolate ice-cream lover like me, best to have it replaced with vanilla. Red velvet does not go well with chocolate. Nope, it really doesn't.
What really surprises me was the waffle that showed up with a pile of veggie on top. First thought, 'Are you joking? Veggies on a waffle? Fuck this. Where's the egg! And bacon!' But appearances are deceiving. Everything beneath went perfectly with the waffle, except the salad of course. I would go back to this cafe for Eggs Bacon waffle, no doubt bout it.
By the way, they serve breakfast and pasta too but ugh I'm kind of over that whole eggs craze. I demand only waffles. Side note, there's no service charge for the bill! Yay to free discount! Downside, they only accept cash. Hello, what century already?!
