"Is having a private degree shameful?"
If this particular person actually owns a specialized degree and holds a professional job (such as lawyer or doctor) or is the top scholar kind of person, he/she has the right to be so high and mighty. Truth is, this person is neither. If he/she thinks that a private degree can be bought with money, what an air-headed dummy. Wait, he/she doesn't even own one, or rather if he/she wants to have a degree, he/she will have to get a private degree too.
Let me ask you, do you feel ashamed of being a diploma graduate and not a jc graduate? The earlier generations looked down on diploma students too! But now? Times have changed and diploma students are actually more valuable than jc students in so many levels.
I just want to say that no one should be ashamed of where they come from. Yes, you may be an ITE graduate or 'O' level graduate, that doesn't mean that you cannot mention it at all. Same goes to private degree graduates. Of course, being humble is ever necessary. Never brag about anything, even if you're a Harvard graduate. Anyone and everyone can be successful, and in the road to becoming successful, no one should ever feel ashamed of themselves because of education.
Shame to that person claiming to be 'just real'. I doubt he/she will ever be successful with this immature thinking. I wouldn't call this person bitch/asshole, maybe just a dumb superficial (wanted to say blonde but blonde tends to be pretty/handsome) .... person. Zero brainer.
